3.1 Workshops on Joint Forest Management
capacity_sbconsultancyUnder the initiative of Forest department, Sonitpur east division a Joint Forest Management Committee initiated in comprising with 6 villages in the fringe area of Chenglijan Reserve Forest. The name of the JFMC is known as Bheluadanga Joint Forest Management Committee where 21 members including office bearers are involved and so far they were not much aware on what is JFMC. While interacting with some of the members of the JFMC it was felt the need to have a workshop to empower the community along with committee members for effective functioning of JFMC towards protection and preservation of Chenglijan RF and wildlife along with their livelihood approach. There for District Community Development Programme organized 2 workshops at Sirajuli village on November 28th 2011 where 35 (Male-24 & Female- 11) participants participated in the workshop. The main objective behind this workshop was to educate the participant’s particularly existing committee members/leaders about JFMC and how they should be functioning. The workshop also allowed the participants to discuss and interact with the officials of the forest department and also to clear their doubts.

Dilwar Hussain (Member Secretary of Laokhowa Burhachapori Wild life Conservation Society, Nagaon) during his address explained the roles and responsibilities of JFMC. He also very briefly elaborated on how the committee body should be formed and function towards protection of forest and wildlife along with their livelihood approach.

Further briefing the participants about the various schemes under FDA, resource person Md. Hussain stated that the every JFMC should also contribute in conservation of forest from fire, illicit activities, grazing, poaching and many more such activates in forest. Not only the members of the JFMC but even all the people should join hands together in the conservation mission. He also explained the participants about the objective of micro plans based on the possibility and opportunity in the area.

capacity_sbconsultancyLocal beat Officer Mr. P. Kanu represented from the forest department and explained the participants about the Genesis of JFMC and its objectives. In his briefing he supported and encouraged participants particularly JFMC for micro plans and entry point activities along with soil and moisture conservation.

The workshop presided by Mr. Philip Sinduri (Ancholik Panchayat Member, Karibil GP) where Mr Khem Chandra Khaund, Adviser of the Bheluadanga JFMC participated and responded in the workshop that now this workshop has given clear thoughts and enlightened to the participants especially to the members of the JFMC about the role & responsibility.

Mr. Hiten Boisya from WWF also attended and made aware to the participants on elephant psychology and concluded the workshop with vote of thanks offered by Mr. Rudra Sharma Programme Asst. DCDP. The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Kretofil Bhengra CEO, DCDP along with the resource persons.
3.1 Training on Gender issue on Self Reliance
The North East Network (NEN) organized two days training programme on Training on Gender issue on Self reliance/Micro Finance on 13th &14th October 2011 at TATA institute of social science, Uzanbazaar, Guwahati.
Dr. Manisha Behal CEO, NEN started the programme with her welcome address. In her speech she said that, the main aim of organizing the programme is to capacitate participant about gender lens with micro-credit/ micro-finance. In these programme total 17 participants from various districts from North East participated. She gave an example of the Nirantar which is an organization working for women’s in livelihood process through micro- finance & micro-credit.
In the first day she interacts with participant under mention topics. Sri Rudra Sharma, Programme Assistant of DCDP represented the programme.
The following key points were highlighted in the training.
1. Understanding the goals of micro- Finance& micro-credit programme.
2. Understanding basic concepts, Gender, omens Rights, Women’s Empowerment, Poverty, Micro-Credit or any other significant words that come up from participant’s presentations.
3. Claims & Realities of Microcredit a presentation of Nirantar , the organization make research on micro- credit and micro –finance.
4. Group discussion among participant on Micro-credit µ-finance.
5. Unraveling and understanding challenges faced by participants at field or organization level, with regards to women’s empowerment ,poverty alleviation ,financial inclusion are also discuss.
In the second day mainly under mention matters are discussed.
1. Charting ways forward to strengthen gender equity and women’s rights within micro-credit/microfinance programme in grass-root area.
2. Recent efforts to inform and influence policy and programme on micro-credit / micro-finance through gender lens.
3. Reflections and feedback on two days training programme from participants.
The programme is end with the vote of thank from Dr. Behal. She offered her thanks to all participants for their kind participation. She request to all participants to apply the policy in regards of microfinance through the gender lens.
3.1 Capacity Building for Staff and Volunteers on Organization Sustainability
Conducted 5 staff meeting at DCDP office conference hall in every 1st Tuesday in the month and discussed about the problem and challenges faced by the staff and volunteers where some of the Governing board members also participated along with the chairman of Governing Board. The following importances were discussed during the staff meeting for smooth functioning of the organization.
1. Regular and timely attendance in the office and monitoring the activities
2. Well cooperation among the staff and volunteers as well as with other partners, members and with the community.
3. Well transparency about the projects and organizational rule and function among the staff and volunteers towards the sustainability of the organization.
3. Mr. K Bhengra CEO DCDP, Mr. P Surin field officer CASA, Assam along with Ms. Anamika Gogoi CASA Guwahati and Mr. Indra Chetry, Chairman of Governing Board facilitated the programme.
